Sanki is a custom logotype created for an eastern european comfort food restaurant. Built from a foundational study of the cyrillic vyaz style of lettering, some adjustments were made to improve legibility for the latin alphabet. The contrast and angularity of vyaz are conserved, but the letters are modernized by softening sharp angles and adding slight serifs. An illustrative variation on the logotype was created based on motifs from 18th century slavic textiles.
